Digestive system
Digestive system food is broken down into a simpler form so that it can be easily taken in or absorbed by our body is called digestion. Many organs work together and help in the process of digestion. The mouth, food pipe, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, rectum, and anus are the main organs of the digestive system.
1.MOUTH
Digestion starts in the mouth. The teeth help to break down and chew food. The chewed food then mixes with a liquid, called saliva, produced in our mouth.
2.FOOD PIPE
The food pipe (esophagus) passes the food from the mouth to the stomach.
3. STOMACH
Inside the stomach, the food is broken down further into the small pieces by churning and with the help of chemicals called digestive juices.
4.SMALL INTESTINE
From the stomach, the food passes into the small intestine. Digestion is completed in the small intestine and the nutrients from the food absorbed into the blood. Blood then carries these nutrients to the different parts of the body.
5.LIVER
The liver produces digestive juices that help in the digestion of the food.
6.LARGE INTESTINE
The small intestine the undigested foods passes into the large intestine. The large intestine is a shorter but wider,tube-like structure, which collects the indigestible from the small intestine.
7.RECTUM
The rectum is the final part of the large intestine. Feces are stored in the rectum for the short time before being passed out through the anus.
8.ANUS
